Coconut Oil For Hair

I have been using coconut oil ever since I was a child.  My great grandmother use to make it and we all had our little role that we played in the production of this oil.
She had these huge graters that she would give us with the coconut in a bowl and we would sit for hours grating.

Then she would juice it and boil the milk in a big zinc pan over a wood fire. The oil was then bottled and shared among family an friends.

We poured it into our lotions, hair oils, we cooked with it. We used this oil for all sorts of things.

Now coconut oil is one of the most popular hair products on the market.  It is used for hot oil treatments (shampoo hair, apply warm coconut oil to hair and scalp, cover with steam cap and sit under hair dryer for 10 to 15 mins).
It can also be used for scalp or dandruff treatments, or as finishing sheen after styling.

I love to use it on locks and for natural hair styling.

I'm sure that there are many other things that this oil is used for.   Reasearch and try it, you may love it.

I love being in the beauty business.  As a cosmetologist you get challenged every single day, but that's what makes the job exciting.  Meeting new and amazing people and knowing you have the power to alter, enhance, minimize or completely transform a person is the greatest feeling one can experience.
Have you ever had a makeover?...Well I have and the difference was always amazing.  I love to dress up.  It changes my mood and gives me a celebrity feeling (lol).  I feel better about myself...kind of like I can do anything.
I'm guessing that's the feeling everyone get after their makeover which is why I will always be here doing what I do best...making people look and feel good about themselves.

Foundation application/brush or no brush

I consider foundation to be a very important part of the makeup process.  First of all, not everyone was blessed with smooth even toned skin and when we can find a product that covers our spots and blemishes... ahhhhhhh....heavenly.

Now the question.  Do you have to use a brush to apply foundation?
The answer to this question varies.  If you are a makeup artist you will know that not every client wants their face to be touched, meaning they don't want your hands all up in their faces. Therefore, it is recommended to use a brush or makeup sponge.

For personal application you can use whatever works for you (makeup sponge, brush, fingers).

I personally like to use my hands. Yes, my hands. I use cream or liquid foundation so it's kind of easy to just pour a little of the product in my hands, rub them together and apply in the same manner I apply my moisturizer.  I prefer this method because my hands warm the product and makes it kind of dissapear into my skin. (I use brushes and makeup sponges for my clients)
If and when I use a sponge I make sure it's damp because it enables the product to spread more evenly over the face.

So there...you don't have to use a brush if you don't want to.

    WHAT IS MARCEL CURLING?

      DSC_1200_crop.jpg
Thermal waving (marcel curling) are methods of curling straight or really short hair using thermal irons and special manipulative techniques on dry hair. These irons are made of high quality steel and are heated by a small electrical stove. They are favored by stylist catering to clients with extremely short or curly hair because of the larger range of barrell or rod sizes and higher heat capabilities. The heat is completely controlled by the stylist.

At Norkobe's  Beauty Inc. located in Coral Springs Florida, we offer a wide range of beauty services including marcel curling.  CONTACT US NOW FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT: 954.255.5454

TRIMS OR CUTS at out salon in Coral Springs

A great haircut begins with a great consultation. We do a consultation to find out what exactly the client is looking for, offer suggestions and professional advice, and come up come to a joint decision about the most suitable haircut.
IMG_8946_crop.jpgAt Norkobe's Beauty Inc., we listen to our client's needs and give them exactly what they ask for. We offer classic and trendy cuts to suit all face shapes.
Getting regular trims helps to get rid of dry, damaged and split ends which can work their way up the shaft of your hair causing even more damage. A trim is defined as removing ¼ to ½ inch of hair, nothing more. If your stylist insists on cutting off inches of hair every time you go in for a visit, your hair won't get longer. Visit us at Norkobes Beauty where you will find professionals who understands exactly how much hair you need removed. Depending on the chemicals you have in your hair as well as your daily routine, you may need a trim anywhere from every six weeks to six months. The better you care for your hair on a day-to-day basis, the less often you'll need trims.

          Shampooing

Healthy hair begins with a healthy scalp.
Shampooing is an important preliminary step that prepares the hair for any hair service. The scalp and hair must be cleansed regularly to prevent the accumulation of oils and perspiration that is mixed with natural flakes and dirt which creates a breeding ground for bacteria, however, excessive shampooing can strip the hair of its natural oil and makes the hair dry and brittle.
Some hair produces more oil (sebum) than others and should be shampooed more often.
Natural hair doesn't require the same frequent cleansing that naturally straight hair needs. You can shampoo once a week and have healthy locks.
A clean scalp is a healthy scalp so schedule your next shampoo appointment with us. 954.255.5454

              LET'S TALK ABOUT TWISTS
Flat twist, Rope twist....what's your call?
              164.JPG
If you're thinking of leaving relaxers behind, and you don't want to cut all of your processed hair off, you'll need some transition styles that will take you from straight hair to your natural texture. While most of these styles are protective, you can still wear your hair out on occasion. Try these hairstyles to get you through the sometimes awkward stages of transitioning and you'll feel confident that your hair looks good every day.

              DSC_0470_crop.jpgFlat Twists

Unlike two-strand twists which require curly ends that can hold themselves together, flat twists work well on hair that's not completely natural. Similar to cornrows, hair is flat wrapped to the scalp fashioning these twists, which lie on the head. You'll still need to secure the ends. If your hair is past your shoulders, you can gather the ends into a ponytail or bun, while shorter hair can simply be pinned into place. Visit us at Norkobes Beauty where you will find professionals who understands exactly how to twist your hair.

              WHAT IS A RELAXER?

014.JPGA relaxer is the opposite of a perm (curls straight hair). It is a chemical treatment designed to rearrange the structure of curly hair into a straighter or smoother form.
Most relaxers have a pH over 13 and can swell the hair up to two times its normal diameter. They have the active ingredient hydroxide ion which makes them extremely high in alkaline and can literally melt the hair if used incorrectly, which is why they should only be done by a professional.

Norkobes Beauty Inc. professionals understands exactly how to relax your hair so visit us for your next relaxer appointment or call 954.255.5454.

A RELAXER SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH A PERM

Permanent waving, or perm as we all call it, is a chemical texture service used to add waves or curls to straight hair.
It is a two part process. The first part of any perm is the physical change in which the hair is wrapped on perm rods. The second part involves chemical changes caused by using permanent waving solution and neutralizer.
The size of the rod determines the size of the curl. The rods comes in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be combined with different wrapping methods to provide different styling options.

Norkobes Beauty Inc. provides an exciting range of styling options for your perm.
